Walter Joseph Fiedorowicz

Uncasville-Walter J. Fiedorowicz, 90, of Uncasville, passed away on February 15, 2015 at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich. He was born in Montville on October 3, 1924 to the late Nikodem and Malwina (Zielen) Fiedorowicz. On May 26, 1951 he married the former Doris (Lil) Jarvis in Taftville who predeceased him. Walter was employed for over 30 years as a supervisor for Northeast Utilities.

He is survived by a son, Gary Fiedorowicz and his wife Karen of Bozrah; two grandsons, Matthew Fiedorowicz and Gregory Fiedorowicz of Hope Valley, RI. He is also survived by a brother, John Fiedorowicz of Hampton, VA. and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Fiedorowicz and sisters, Mary Fiedorowicz and Ann Labejko.

Walter proudly served in the U.S. Marines during WWII. He was a member of the VFW and the Montville Polish Club. Walter especially enjoyed gardening during summer months, lavishing neighbors and friends with produce and homemade pickles. He was also an avid sports fan, the UConn Husky men and women basketball teams were among his favorites. His two grandsons, Matt and Greg, were his pride and joy.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John Church, Maple Ave., Uncasville on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Walter’s honor to St. John Church, 22 Maple Ave., Uncasville, CT 06382.
