

James Lee “Bud” Adams, 68, of Union City, passed away unexpectedly from a short illness at the Community Health Center of Branch County on Saturday, January 7, 2012. He was born February 28, 1943 to Lee and Gertrude (Jackson) Adams.
He was a 1962 graduate of Union City High School.
Bud served his country in the Vietnam War with the U. S. Army as a cook and Ammunitions Transporter from January 1965 to January of 1967. He retired from Kellogg’s in 1996 as a rice cooker relief operator. Bud enjoyed working part time mowing the greens at Turtle Creek Golf Course in his retirement. His other hobbies included golf, bowling, softball, horses, and playing any type of game you can think of with family and friends. He was also involved in harness racing as an owner, trainer, and driver for many years.
Bud is survived by a son; Ted, daughter-in-law, Christi of Lake Orion, MI granddaughters; Taylor, Ellery, step daughter; Rhonda Jones, granddaughter, Courtney (Jones) Callendar, sisters; Donna (Dick) Fast, Dorothy, brothers; Harold, Dale, Richard (Carol), Tom and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister; Edna Otis and brother; Leonard.
A celebration of Bud’s life will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. with two hours of visitation prior to the service at the Putnam Funeral Home in Union City with Pastor Charles Swarthout officiating. Full military honors will be held at 11:30 A.M. Friday, January 13, 2012 at Ft Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI. There will be a fellowship luncheon on Friday at 2:00 P.M. at the Burlington Fire Hall, Burlington, MI.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Union City Alumni Association in honor of Bud Adams.
