Margaret "Peggy" Hanchett Williams

Margaret L. “Peggy” Williams, 98, of Union City, passed away Friday, October 18, 2013 at Tendercare in Marshall. She was born February 19, 1915 in Marshall to Claud and Myrta G. (Young) Hanchett. She married Donald A. Williams July 13, 1932 in Angola, Indiana. He preceded her in death.

“Peggy” spent most of her life in Athens. She was known as ‘Grandma’ to everyone who knew her. She loved her junk food and watching game shows. She had worked for 15 years at Woolworth’s.

“Peggy” is survived by her daughter; Joanna Royer, grandson, John (Robyn) Royer, granddaughters; Donna Hughes, Peggy (Ronald) Leggitt, Lois Andrews, 9 great grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, parents, brother; George Hanchett, sister, Thelma Brown, son-in-law; Franklin Royer, great granddaughter; Lindsay Royer, grandson-in-law, Gary Hughes.

Services will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with two hours of visitation prior to the service at the Putnam Funeral Home in Union City with Becky Beard officiating. Interment will follow at Burr Oak Cemetery in Athens.
