Arline Walter (nee O'Rourke), 94, passed away on December 7, 2018 surrounded by family. She was born on November 18, 1924 to Mary and Joseph O'Rourke in Plymouth, Pennsylvania. After graduating high school in 1941, she moved to New Jersey where she met and married the late Kenneth Walter, Sr. Arline was a longtime resident of Union City until six years ago when she moved to Brighton Gardens in Middletown, New Jersey. Always a proud wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and great grandmother, who will be remembered for her kindness and easy conversation. Arline loved to work, and was especially proud of her 30 years working for the Union City Post Office, retiring in 2001 at age 76. Arline enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball, and playing cards with friends. She liked word and number games and was an avid reader sharing her love of books with family and friends. Arline is predeceased in death by her sons Kenneth Jr., former mayor of Union City Bruce, and Ronald Walter; two brothers, Joseph and John O'Rourke; and three sisters Mary Wanyo, Elizabeth Mazaleski, and Regina Jez. Arline is survived by her sisters Bernice Williams, Bergenfield and Patricia Caperino, Dover, Delaware; her daughters-in-law Patricia Walter, Middletown and Mary Ann McGuire-Walter, Shrub Oak, N.Y; her grandchildren Michele Walter (Kevin Milne), Atlantic Highlands, Jeffrey Walter (Kim), Howell, Meghan Walter, (Michael Nolan), Brianna Walter, Shrub Oak, N.Y., four great-grandchildren, Sarah Milne, Alexis and Samantha Walter and Jack Nolan, and many nieces and nephews. Arline's life celebration will include visiting on Tuesday December 11, 2018, from 3-8 PM at the Leber Funeral Home, 2000 Kennedy Blvd, Union City, New Jersey, Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Union City on Wednesday December 12 at 11AM. Family and friends are invited to gather Wednesday morning at 10AM at the funeral home before services. Arline will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery.
