Altagracia M. Vasquez

Altagracia was one of eight children born to Bernardino Vasquez and Daniela Matos. She was born in Barahona, Dominican Republic and came to the United States in 1963.

As a devoted mother, she was both strict and nurturing, raising four children on her own with unwavering dedication and love. Through her sacrifices and resilience, she built and maintained a strong, close-knit family grounded in love and care.

Altagracia will always be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family and strong work ethic. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends and all who knew and loved her.

She was a kindhearted and generous woman whose love extended far beyond her own home. With an open heart and a giving spirit, she provided love, support, and assistance to many of her siblings, nieces, nephews as well as being a second mother to her children’s friends. During her life she strove to ensure that her family and loved ones were cared for.

Her generosity was reflected in the thoughtful ways she cared for her family. She would purchase clothing and bring it to the Dominican Republic to ensure that her siblings, nieces, and nephews were well-dressed and presentable. These gestures, though simple, spoke volumes about her loving nature and her deep commitment to her family.

Her life was a testament to strength, sacrifice, generosity, and unconditional love. She leaves behind a family that loves her and holds her with great and loving memories.

She is survived by her beloved children Jose, Marino, his wife Vickie, Vilma and her husband David. As well as her eight grandchildren Armando, Marino, Daniel, Samantha, Olivia, Zachary, Elio, and Shayne.

She was predeceased by her son, Armando and her parents, Bernardino Vasquez and Daniela Matos.

Visitation will be held at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083, on October 12, 2026, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and before committal on October 13, 2026 at 9:30 am.

Committal will take place at Graceland Memorial Park & Mausoleum, 1801 Galloping Hill Rd, Kenilworth, NJ 07033, on October 13, 2026, at 11:00am.
