

Angela Fernicola Barbato, 84, resident of Palmetto Bay, Florida, and Beach Haven Park, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at her home in Palmetto Bay amongst family. Angela was born in Newark, New Jersey, and lived and worked for most of her life in Union, New Jersey. She attended East Side High School in Newark, NJ, earned her Bachelors degree from Seton Hall University and her Masters degree from Kean College in Union, NJ. She was a well-loved teacher of third grade, second grade and kindergarten for 39 years at Livingston School in Union Township, and a recipient of many teaching awards, including those by her students and peers.
Angela was one of five children born to the late Hardy J. and Sadie (nee Tremarco) Fernicola and was the beloved wife of Dr. Guy F. Barbato for 59 years. Angela is predeceased by sister (Carmela) Mildred Rocco, husband Joseph, and brother-in-law Charles Nuttman. She will forever be remembered by her other devoted sisters, Marie Rios of Hollywood, Florida, Louise Nuttman of Millburn, New Jersey, and Theresa Micchelli and her husband, Sal, of Freehold, New Jersey, beloved sons, Dr. Guy F. Barbato of Peahala Park, New Jersey, Francis (Fran) Barbato and his wife, Anita, of Palmetto Bay, Florida, and Joseph Barbato and his wife, Sally, of Stockton, New Jersey, her treasured eight grandchildren Guy J., Brittany, Corinne, Cara, Kevin, Sarah, Joseph and Samantha Barbato, along with countless former students, loving family and friends whom were blessed to have Angela in their lives. She was fortunate to have found four angels on Earth, who were able to take great care of her over the last 10 years, Irena Ruchlicki, Yeniece Castro, Gisel Mendez and Donna Holcomb.
Angela loved her large loving family, music, eating and preparing food from all cultures and encouraging others to learn. She touched the lives of many people with her smile, caring and accepting personality and maintained her trademark pleasant and positive character even during the tough periods of her life.
Private services will be held in Miami. Friends and family are invited to attend a viewing on Monday, December 16, 2013, from 4-8PM at the McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Avenue, Union, NJ. A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Spirit Church in Union, NJ, on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 10:30AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of Angela Fernicola Barbato to the Arthritis Foundation www.arthritis.org.
