I just saw her obit posted on FB by Mr. Pietro pinto. I just had a thought about her and looked to see if she was on FB. My deepest condolences. She was my 2nd and 4th grade teacher at St. Joseph's in East Orange. She will never be forgotten by her students and we will see her again and rejoice when we all reunite in heaven. God's peace and grace be with you.

I didn't know as a baby that I was very blessed to have such wonderful God-Parents as Gingie and Joe. My parents and Gingie and Joe were close friends from back in high school and maintained a close and loving relationship for decades. This relationship gave me many opportunities to be with Gingie and as I grew, I realized how special it was to be a part of Gingie and Joe's life. This included all of Gingie's children and my siblings too. Gingie meant so much to me that I asked her and Joe to be my son's God-parents too. It was so beautiful to be standing next to Gingie at the baptismal font while Jesse was being baptized. My love is great for her and will always be.

I am so sorry to hear about Mrs Kiernan’s passing. Every day that I walked home from St Mike’s I  passed the Kiernan home. More often then not,  I was accompanied by Patty, Chris, Larry and Frankie., et al. We would talk about  our parents and the events that were happening in our families. We were all connected as one big St Michael’s family and this loss represents one of our own. 
Mrs Kiernan remained in my life throughout my own children’s lives and I had the fortune of seeing her and Mr Kiernan at events at my children’s and her grandchildren’s (Emily and Erin) school. We always made an effort to embrace one another. Our parents now  share a new life in heaven and forever they will be our North Stars.  Peace and love to the Kiernan Family. ~ Maureen (Penk) Hess

I met mimi and poppa one summer when I came up to New Jersey to spend time with my cusisn Jonathan, Jack and Tina,  lucky enough for me, in that summer mimi and poppa where celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary! It was an amazing experience to see such a loving couple, and loving familly together, all the Kiernans where so welcoming to me,  especially mimi and poppa, I will never forget the time I spent with them and I will never forget the stories they shared, especially the ones wich involved a red-hot poker!  Mimi you will be missed, but never forgotten, we love always and forever. 

Dear Jimmy, David, Susan, and Christopher,
             Your mom was a best friend to me for over 60 years !!!!!  I have so many beautiful memories of your mom as a student, a bride, and a mom.  She kept in constant touch with me after I moved to California - especially when there was a fire or an earthquake here.   She kept me posted about your lives and your children's activities.  We visited by mail and phone often after I stopped traveling to New Jersey for our in person visits. She and your dad always gave me the royal treatment when I would come to spend the day with them.  There will always be a place in my heart that no one else can fill !!!!  God bless you all !!

Gingie, Kay and I worked part time in Sears in Union City while we were in college at Jersey City State.  I met my husband Mike in Sears Complaint department which was between furniture where Gingie worked and cashier where Kay worked. Gingie and Kay both claimed credit for our meeting.  When I was a freshman, I went to Canada over winter break.  Kay put me up to sending Gingie a postcard which said “Gingie your boyfriend is a dream in technicolor. I had not yet met Joe.  I was honored to be a bridesmaid when Joe and Gingie married.

Loved working with you at St. Joseph's School. Enjoyed our long talks.  RIP dear Ginger.

On behalf of the Cavaness family, we send our sincere condolences to the family of Mrs. Kiernan.  A friend, mentor, inspirer, confident and one who had a heart of gold. Our conversations over the years were always ones that left me knowing there is light at the end of the tunnel. Sharing heartbreak and triumphs . Proud of the life journeys our loved were taking.  We all have to cross that bridge someday, but Ginger will always have a place in our hearts.
