OBITUARY
Ann P. Manhardt
August 9, 1939 – February 7, 2021
Ann Patricia Manhardt age 81, entered into eternal rest on February 7, 2021.
Ann attended Wilfred Beauty Academy and worked as a hair stylist. Even when she was not well, you could be sure her hair was perfectly styled. Ann went on to work in the office at Shering Plough in Union. This is where she met her husband Richard. They enjoyed going to the Monmouth Race Track, Saratoga and The Meadowlands. She had her choices and bets ready in advance of their trips! Atlantic City was another favorite place the couple ventured to.
Ann loved the casinos, restaurants and shows. Ann also worked as an independent insurance broker in her later years.
Gardening was Ann’s passion. She was a member of The Union County Garden Club. Her specialty was roses. Ann was always excited to select her favorite rose to enter into the rose competition at the Garden Club. The various colors of roses Ann grew were outstanding. She also participated in planning the annual Holiday party.
She was proud of her Irish heritage and loved listening to Irish music.
Another favorite activity was watching old movies.
She is pre-deceased by her husband Richard George Manhardt.
Ann leaves to mourn and cherish her memory her dear sister Kathleen Astorga , her brother in law Julio Astorga, extended family members and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be private.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Ann’s memory to The American Heart Association.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy for the Manhardt family may be shared at www.McCrackenFuneralHome.com

I was so sad to hear of Ann's passing today... We had so much
fun with she and Dick over the years.
I did talk to her a few months back and she sounded so strong
and such a great sense of humor all the time...We use to
go out for St Patricks Day and I certainly will be thinking of
her this year and always....What a strong amazing person ...God Bless and sympathy to the family.

Ann was a loving and kind person. She was never too busy to stop and listen to your concerns and worries. She was a beautiful soul with a heart of gold, a sense of humor and of course, alittle bit of sassiness that we loved about her.
She will always be remembered by her friends of the Union Garden Club.

One of my best memories was going to the Union Township Garden Club holiday party with Ann, Julio and Katie. We enjoyed the food at Echo Lake Country Club. The holiday decorations were beautiful. There were so many delicious desserts . It was hard to decide which one to choose. Each of us won a prize and we had lots and lots of laughs!

Ann Manhardt's took the position of Vice President of the Township of Union Garden Club very seriously. Even when health issues prevented her from taking an active role in proceedings, she gave the Union Garden Club the benefit of her years of experience to get things done. We will miss her enthusiasm and we will always remember her devotion to beautify our home town, the Township of Union.

Ann was my first cousin and I don't mind admitting that I had a crush on her as a young boy/teenager. She was a classic beauty.
Our lives diverged after High School and it wasnt until about three years ago that we reconnected. We were able to get 'caught up' and share some of our lifes experiences and remember days and people from our distant past. I am grateful that she and I were able to come full circle. I will always have fond/loving memories of Ann.
Rest in Peace Ann, I will miss you.

Ann's dedication to the Union Township Garden Club will forever be a cherished memory. She shared her love of gardening (and especially roses) with multiple generations of gardeners from novice to expert.
Her beauty, both inside and out, will live on in the gardening friendships she sowed.
