Annamae L. Isele, of North Plainfield, was called home to the Lord on January 30, 2015. She was 93 years old. Annamae was born in Scranton, PA, the elder daughter of William N. Hauser and Anna C. White Hauser. In 1942, she married her high school sweetheart, Frank Isele. Like many young, wartime brides, she moved with her husband to military training bases within the US, living in such exotic locales as Wichita Falls, TX; Chickasha, OK; Belleville, IL; Fresno, CA and Moses Lake, WA. When Frank was deployed to the Pacific, she returned to Scranton until the war’s end.
In 1946, they moved to central New Jersey, and began to raise their family. Annamae served as a Cub Scout leader the entire decade of the 1950s, and as a Girl Scout leader in the 1970s. She was a long-time teacher of religious education at St. Joseph’s, North Plainfield. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, North Plainfield, where she was a choir member and member of the Altar-Rosary Society. A skilled seamstress and hairdresser, Annamae used her talents to help friends, neighbors, and family, never seeking compensation. No task was too challenging, from making a business suit for her son to prom gowns for her granddaughters.
Annamae is pre-deceased by her parents and her beloved husband of 67 years. She is survived by her three children: Frank W. Isele, Ph.D. (Rosemary), of Saratoga Springs, NY; William P. Isele, Esq. (Linda Jean), of Milltown, NJ; Mary Kay Cullinan, Ph.D. (Patrick), of Middlesex, NJ; nine grandchildren: Dana L. Figliomeni (Frank), Frank A. Isele (Krista), and Nicholas J. Isele (Jennifer), all of upstate New York; MSgt. William N. Isele (USMC) of Maysville, NC; Christopher P. Isele; and David F. Isele of Philadelphia, PA; Joseph Cullinan (Katie) of Fords, NJ; Marie Cullinan of Vienna, VA, and Kiera Cullinan of Middlesex; and eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Dolores Selbach of Fayetteville, NY; three nieces: Barbara Viola, Geralyn Suscavage, and Chloe Webb; and two nephews: Al Suscavage and John Nihen.
Friends are invited to celebrate Annamae’s life with her family at the McCracken Funeral Home 1500 Morris Avenue Union, NJ on Thursday, February 5, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, February 6 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Helena Church, 950 Grove Avenue, Edison, NJ. Entombment will be at Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Loyola House of Retreats, 161 James Street, Morristown, NJ 07960, or your favorite charity.
