A much loved husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, Anthony "Tony" Garrone, 79, of Pocono Lake, PA, passed away with close family by his side on September 18, 2012. Born on April 16, 1933 and raised in Newark, New Jersey, the son of Charles and Nina (Faccidomo) Garrone, he married Nancy (Araneo) Garrone on October 20, 1963. He was a lifelong resident of Elizabeth, NJ until moving to Pocono Lake, PA upon retirement. Tony was a very active man; he was a mason and worked in construction during his early years. He then worked for Braniff Airlines and finally All Modes Transportation until retirement. He was also a United States Marine, serving in the Korean War. Tony touched the lives of the many people who were fortunate enough to know him. The neighborhood "handyman", Tony was always there to help out a neighbor or a friend. His grandchildren were his pride and joy; he would never miss an opportunity to spend as much time as he possibly could with them. Known by many as "Gramps" he was like grandfather figure to more than just his own grandchildren. One of Tony's greatest attributes was his carefree attitude. His philosophy on life was simple; he took care of his family, and never worried about things that couldn't be changed. He loved to joke and his sense of humor could always lift the spirits of those around him. He will always be remembered for his caring ways, kind nature, and generosity towards others.
He leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Nancy (Araneo) Garrone of Pocono Lake, PA; his daughter Maria Pavlicka and John Czahor of Pocono Lake, PA; his daughter Lisa and her husband Peter Lancette of Charlton, MA; grandsons Brian Pavlicka and Andrew Lancette; and granddaughters Kristine Pavlicka and Juliana Lancette; as well as his nieces and nephews. Gramps is welcomed to eternal rest by his granddaughter, Jeaneane Pavlicka.
Friends and family are invited for visitation on Friday September 21, 2012 from 2-4 & 7-9PM to the McCracken Funeral Home 1500 Morris Ave Union NJ. Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday September 22 at 10 AM with interment to follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
