Arlene Rita Gildwarg

Arlene was born on April 8, 1938, at Beth Israel Hospital in Newark, New Jersey, the daughter of Samuel and Tillie Latten (Pollack). She graduated from Weequahic High School in Newark, NJ, and went on to attend Secretarial School.

Arlene worked at Karnak Corporation in Clark, NJ, as an Administrative Assistant. She loved to play Mah Jong, Canasta, and was a Red Hat Lady. Arlene enjoyed meeting her friends at the Grill or spending the afternoon at the pool, socializing with everyone there. She especially loved shopping at the mall for makeup and pocketbooks.

A member of Temple Beth Mordecai, Arlene was also active in the Temple’s sisterhood. She was kind, generous, funny, and always supportive, often finding herself in humorous predicaments. Arlene had a unique way of making life lighter and warmer just by being herself.

Arlene was married to Ronald Fischbein for 18 years and then to Murray Gildwarg for 34 years. From her marriage to Ron Fischbein, she had three children: Scott Fischbein, Susan Maurer (Nee Fischbein), and Marc Fischbein. Ron passed away on July 14, 2012, and Murray passed away on April 12, 2013.

Arlene is survived by her children: Scott Fischbein married to Jenny Fischbein, Susan Maurer (Fischbein) married to Robert Maurer, and Marc Fischbein married to Kristina Nugin. Her grandchildren include Stephanie Dunn married to Evan Dunn, Adam Maurer married to Courtney Maurer, Joshua Fischbein, Jodi Maurer, Sarah Fischbein, Jacob Fischbein, and Jordan Fischbein. Her great-grandchildren are Levi Maurer, Cora Dunn, and Oliver Maurer.

Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy, truly her whole world.

A visitation will be held at McCracken Funeral Home in Union, NJ, at 9:00 AM, followed by a service at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place at King Solomon Memorial Park in Clifton, NJ.
