Barbara A. Carr
July 8, 1938 – January 16, 2023

Barbara Ann (Radel) Carr passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, January 16, 2023.
Born and raised in Newark, she was a proud graduate of Weequahic High School, class of 1956. In 1959, she married her husband, John and moved to Elizabeth where they raised their family. In 1991, they moved to Kenilworth, where she resided until her passing.
Barbara worked at Thompson and Company before becoming an executive assistant at Ohio Casualty Insurance Company.
Barbara’s greatest pastime was being with her beloved family. Her love for her children and grandchildren was unconditional. She loved being at the shore with her daughter, son in law and granddaughters in the summer. She loved the beach or just sitting on the deck in the sun, and she loved people, dancing, good food, good wine, laughter and conversation with family and friends. She enjoyed life.
She also loved watching Days of Our Lives and reading her newspapers while soaking in the warm sun.
Barbara is predeceased by her parents, William and Alice Radel (Parker), her husband John and her two sisters, Marie Scheuermann and Rita Mileni. She is survived by her children Michael (Charleen), Christopher (Annie), Susan, Kim DeFreitas (Deon), and Lou Soriano. Seven grandchildren Casey, Carey, Gianna, Nina, Brielle, Peyton, and Bryan, two great granddaughters, and her ten granddogs.
A visitation for Barbara will be held Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, New Jersey 07083.
A funeral mass will occur Friday, January 20, 2023 at 10:30 AM at St Theresa Church, 541 Washington Ave, Kenilworth, New Jersey 07033.
A graveside service will occur Friday, January 20, 2023 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Ave, East Hanover, New Jersey 07936.
