Carmela Ann Chirico

Carmela “Babe” Chirico daughter of Ernest and Rose Ianniello passed away peacefully at Best Senior Homes in Chesapeake Virginia on Friday February 14, 2025 with her loving family by her side. She was born on March 23, 1932 in Elizabeth NJ where she resided most of her life, until she retired to her second home in Toms River, NJ. She was an active member of St. Anthony’s Church belonging to The St. Ann’s Rosary Society, CYO, and the Altar Guild.

Carmela was a graduate of Battin High School class of 1950. She excelled in business education graduating top in her class which led her to an executive secretary position to the Vice President of the Chemical Bank of New York. She then spent many years raising her children and caring for her family. Carmela later returned to work and spent many years as a transcriber for the State of NJ Dept of Probation,

Carmela was married to Joseph Chirico for 57 years before he passed and is survived by her children Mark and his wife Valerie. Lisa and her husband Thomas, and David and his wife Rachael who lovingly took her into their lives and cared for her in her last few years in Chesapeake VA. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren with another one on the way!

Carmela was a fantastic cook, and she loved to read, color and watch the Golden Girls. She also loved to go to concerts and dance socials, Carmela and Joe were on the floor dancing all night long. She lived for her family and will truly be missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083 on Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A mass of Christian burial will be held at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, 971 Suburban Rd, Union, NJ 07083 on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 10:30 AM followed by burial at Saint Gertrude Cemetery & Mausoleum, 53 Inman Ave, Woodbridge Township, NJ 07067.
