

Born in West Pittston, Pennsylvania, Carmella resided in Newark and North Caldwell before moving to Union in 1961. Carmella was a Secretary for various companies and later became Office Manager for the Humble Leasing Company in Union, where she worked until her retirement in 1988.
Throughout her life, Carmella enjoyed going on cruises, trips to Atlantic City, playing Bingo at Holy Spirit Church and dining at the Mark Twain Diner and Mario’s Tutto Bene. Into her later years, Mel enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and watching Turner Classic Movies and the New York Yankees. Carmella treasured the time she spent with family at celebrations and holiday gatherings. She was fortunate to have an incredible memory, and was a great storyteller of her life experiences, which will forever be remembered by her family and carried on for generations.
Carmella was married to her late husband, Alfred Lamm, for 61 years, before his passing in 2014. Carmella is predeceased by her mother and father, Caroline and Frank Ciampi; her sister, Lucille Sierchio; her two brothers, Alphonse and Ralph Ciampi; and nephew, Thomas Ciampi.
Carmella is survived by her loving nieces and nephews, Karolyn Saracino, Frank (Roxanne) Ciampi, Alan (Trish) Sierchio, Gary (Lisa) Ciampi, and Frank (Lily) Ciampi; as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
A gathering will take place at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083 on Thursday September 21 from 9am to 10am.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 am, Holy Spirit Church, 971 Suburban Rd, Union.
Entombment at Hollywood Memorial Park, 1500 Stuyvesant Ave, Union.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
