Carolyn Rutledge, 76, of Union, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Hoboken to Harold and Alice Berwick and raised in Old Bridge, Carolyn eventually made Union her home. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose warmth and unwavering love touched all who knew her.

Carolyn began her professional life as an insurance adjuster for Liberty Mutual before choosing to dedicate herself full-time to raising her growing family. Later, she returned to work as a beloved aide in Hamilton School, where she spent 20 years supporting students and staff with kindness, patience, and humor.

Family was the heart of Carolyn’s world. She shared a joyful marriage with her husband, Richard Rutledge, and was the proud mother of Kimberly Correll and her husband John, Cheryl Zoeller and her husband Ryan, Richard Rutledge, and Krystal Rutledge. Her grandchildren—Rebecca, Emma, Autumn, Dakota, Nathaniel, Sianna, and Elijah—were her greatest pride, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Carolyn found her greatest happiness in the simple pleasures of life: camping each summer, fishing and crabbing from her boat, and creating lasting memories in nature with the people she loved most. She also had a lifelong love of animals and always surrounded herself with numerous pets, who brought her great comfort and joy throughout her life.

Her warmth, humor, and strength will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083 on held Monday, September 29, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM followed by a graveside service will occur at Hollywood Memorial Park, 1500 Stuyvesant Ave., Union, NJ 07083.
