

Daniel Petolino, 88, of Union, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on February 6, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Newark, New Jersey, on March 17, 1937, he was the cherished son of Michael and Josephine Petolino.
Daniel was a proud graduate of Eastside High School in Newark. He built a dedicated career as a machinist, known for his strong work ethic and steady hands. Beyond his profession, Daniel had a deep love for music and was a talented accordion player for the Townsmen Band, bringing joy to many through his performances. Daniel was a lifelong and devoted fan of the New York Giants and the New York Yankees, faithfully watching games from his recliner and rarely missing a game.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Daniel’s greatest happiness came from time spent with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Petolino; his children, Josephine Jordan (Damien), Daniel Petolino, and Patricia Guimaraes (Robert). He was predeceased by his daughter, Kristin Szilagyi, who passed away on January 25, 2026.
Daniel was a proud grandfather to Damien, Justin, Daniel, Monica, Alex, Madison, and Nadia, and a loving great-grandfather to eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Rose Petolino Maynard, and was predeceased by his brother, Michael Petolino.
Daniel found joy in life’s simple pleasures: long drives with his wife and friends, enjoying oysters, clams, and hot dogs, watching old television shows from the comfort of his favorite recliner, and, above all, spending time with those he loved most. He will be remembered for his warmth, his music, his quiet strength, and his unwavering devotion to his family.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and treasured memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Visitation services will be held at McCracken Funeral Home, located at 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083, on February 16, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and again from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, located at 1212 Kelly St, Union, NJ 07083, on February 17, 2026, at 10:15 am.
