David W. Bataille

On October 31, 2018, David Walter Bataille, 91, died at home, surrounded by his family who loved him dearly. He was born in Irvington, NJ on March 29, 1927. Dave was the second of 6 children born to Walter and Evelyn ( Neidl) Bataille and was predeceased by his parents and 2 sisters Evelyn Sharrie and Jean Sammond. David served in the US Army during World War II. He retired from Linde Division of Union Carbide in 1985 and was a man whom everyone admired. In 1949, he married Lillian Wallack. and they celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary this year. Dave was the last surviving charter member of the Union/ Hillside Knights of Columbus and was a 4th degree Knight. He was a parishioner of Christ the King Church in Hillside, NJ. He was the devoted and loving father of Judy ( Scott ) Christenson, JoAnn ( Ino) Tundidor and Betty Jean Sprague. He was always there to guide and help his grandchildren David (Kim) Christenson, Ryan ( Stacey ) Christenson and Graig ( Erin ) Christenson, Jillian Tundidor ( Jon Lerner) and Tara and Edward Sprague. Dave mourned the death of his grandson, Steven Sprague, in 1996. He was blessed to enjoy 5 great grandchildren, Cali, Ava, Andréa, Lia, and Daniel Christenson. He is also survived by his brother Bill Bataille, and sisters, Betty Keller and Barbara Kulish. and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at McCraken Funeral Home 1500 Morris Avenue, Union, NJ 07083 from 4 to 8 pm on Friday, November 2, 2018. Mass will be at 10 am on Saturday, November 3 at Christ the King Church 411 Rutgers Ave, Hillside, NJ Internment at Hollywood Memorial Park 1500 Stuyvesant Ave, Union, NJ, In lieu of flowers please send donations to Kindred Gentiva Hospice Foundation 3350 Riverwood Parkway, Suite 1400 Atlanta, Georgia 30339.Dave's family wishes to express their gratitude and love to our Veterans Administration and Kindred Hospice family who cared so kindly, gently and lovingly for him.
