Ellen G. Dreyer

Ellen was born on July 18, 1945 in New York to her mother, Gertrude Doppernas (née Wrobel) who immigrated from Germany in 1936 and her father, George E. Doppernas whose parents had arrived from Germany in 1922. Her family soon settled in Union, New Jersey, where she lived for the rest of her life, built lifelong friendships, and was an active member of the community.

Ellen's fondest times growing up were the summers she spent with her family and friends on the Jersey Shore. After graduating from high school, she worked as a personnel assistant at Prudential Insurance in Newark, New Jersey, and later as an assistant for Sheffield Chemical Corp. in Union, NJ, before devoting her life to her family. Her greatest joys were spent being with her children and beloved granddaughter.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert; her cousins Mildred VanderVeen and Erwin and Patricia Schwing; her son, Gregg; her daughter, Kimberly; and her cherished granddaughter, Abby, whom she adored.

Visitation will be held at McCracken Funeral Home, located at 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ, on October 20, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A prayer service will take place at the same location on October 21, 2025, at 10:00 am. The committal service will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, 1500 Stuyvesant Ave., Union, NJ, at 11:00 am.

Ellen's witty personality, gentle spirit, and thoughtfulness will be remembered and cherished forever by her friends and family.
