

Francisco Santiago-Rivera, 97, passed away on May 2, 2026. Born on February 9, 1929, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, he was the youngest of six children of Antonio Santiago and Guillermina Rivera. Francisco later lived in Union, New Jersey, and will be remembered with respect by those who knew him.
Francisco’s life was shaped by many experiences and challenges, reflecting a journey of resilience and endurance over the years. He also had a great sense of humor, which brought lightness to those moments when it was needed most.
He held a deep pride in his Puerto Rican heritage, always carrying with him a love for the island and a special affection for his hometown of Ponce.
Francisco proudly served in the United States Armed Forces, entering service on October 14, 1952, during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged. During his time in service, he was stationed at Fort Buchanan in Puerto Rico and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
He was known for his strong work ethic and a sense of independence that defined much of his life.
Francisco was the father of nine children, grandfather to twenty-six grandchildren, and great-grandfather to many, all of whom are part of the extended family that carries forward his name and life story.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hope Foundation in Francisco's memory.
Visitation will be held at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083, on May 7, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. A Prayer Service will follow at McCracken Funeral Home on May 7, 2026, at 12:00 pm. Committal will take place at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown, NJ 08562, on May 7, 2026, at 2:30 pm.
