Gerald A. “Chick” Giordano, 94 of Lakewood N.J., formally of Union NJ passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, January 2, 2023.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Michael Church, 1212 Kelly St., Union, on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 10:15 a.m. Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, 1500 Stuyvesant Avenue in Union at 11:30 a.m. The family will receive family and friends at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union, on Sunday, January 8, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Born in Vauxhall NJ Chick lived in Union before moving to Lakewood 23 years ago.
After returning from the Army Chick worked in the construction industry before starting his own business “Brookside Contractors” in 1956. Chick later partnered with his son Jerry to start “Hillcrest Paving and Excavating, Inc.” in 1979.
Chick retired early and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling with Peggy, playing golf and spending winters in Florida surrounded by family and friends.
He was predeceased by the love of his life, Margaret A. “Peggy” Giordano (husband and wife of 64 years), parents Nicholas and Grace Giordano, his brothers Louis Giordano; Dominick (Nicky) Giordano; Anthony (Butch) Giordano, William (Billy) Giordano; and sisters Mary DeVito; Carmella Galan, and Frances Giordano.
He is survived by his children, Peggy Milkewicz; Jerry Giordano and his wife, Marie; Patricia Diesel; Jimmy Giordano and his wife, Anne.
He was a loving grandfather of Jenna Lubas and her husband, Andrew; Leigha Diesel; Jerry Jr. Giordano and his wife, Valerie; Linda Giordano; Elisa Graul and her husband, Steve; and Christine Giordano; cherished great grandfather of Rosemary Lubas; Juliana, Alexis, and Michael Graul.
Chick was one-of-a-kind! A strong man in every way, but a compassionate man, always willing to help anyone that needed it. His legacy is one of generosity, love, loyalty and laughter. Chick was a true mentor to all that knew him.
