Gladys Pinto

June 13, 1938April 17, 2021

Gladys Pinto née Cabeza was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She left this world on April 17, 2021 after leaving an impact for 82 years.

She was born to Alberto Cabeza and Catalina on June 13, 1938. After growing up in the province of Las Villas in Cuba, Gladys came to the United States with her brother Alberto Cabeza and parents in 1956. She was a lifelong resident of Newark, NJ for over 60 years raising and educating her children Dinah and Steven while caring for her parents.

Gladys loved spending time talking about her children and granddaughter Gabriella. When not helping a friend in need, she read the newspaper daily and always kept up with current events. Lover of pets, music, movies (Indiana Jones) and all things Law & Order and CSI. Gladys always had her finger in the socket of life. Her positivity and advice made her the go-to person of friends and family to seek resilience in the face of adversity. Her infectious smile, humor and wisdom will be forever missed.

“I may walk slowly, but I never backward.” Abraham Lincoln.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be taking place and details are remaining private at her request.

There is not one thing I can write that can sum up or express how you have made me feel in life and what you have done for me. I will always be your son and I will always be proud you are my mother. I now have a leader running the army that watches over me at every moment. You haven’t left, you’ve just been promoted! Te quiero con mi alma!
