Born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
James served his country proudly during the Korean War.
He worked as a teacher for over 38 years, most of his time at Harding School, Kenilworth, NJ, and spent his summers as a tour guide. He was named “Teacher of the Year” by the Kenilworth School Board in 1997. After retiring over 18 years ago, James continued to enjoy tutoring kids. James was also a star athlete growing up, playing many different sports in High School.
He leaves behind his loving wife Nelia Harkins, a daughter Heather Harkins, a sister Kathleen Kresge, a brother in law Ray and wife Antoinette Jackson, as well as five nephews and four nieces.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit the McCracken Funeral Home 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ on Monday April 30, 2018 from 4-8pm. A funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Spirit Church, 971 Suburban Rd, Union, NJ on Tuesday May 1, 2018 at 9:30am followed by interment in the Princeton Memorial Park Cemetery, Robbinsville, NJ.
