Joan I. Horniacek

Joan I. Horniacek, a beloved resident of Springfield, New Jersey, passed away at her home on November 10, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on October 1, 1933, in Newark, NJ to the late Charles and Loretta (nee Rice) Messick, Joan lived a long and fulfilling life. Joan devoted her life to her family and to the simple joys that brought her happiness every day. She loved spending time with her family, walking and playing with her dogs, knitting, crocheting, reading novels, and visiting the beach. Her warmth, creativity, and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her.

Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Joan's memory will be cherished by her family, friends, and the community she was a part of.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Horniacek, who passed away in 1990, and by her beloved daughter, Lisa Horniacek Wilson, who passed away in 2023.

She is survived by her son, Mark Horniacek; her daughter, Jean Horniacek; her grandchildren, Katherine Wilson and Thomas Wilson; and her sister, Jean Brennan.

Her family and friends will remember her for her kindness, her love of laughter, and the countless ways she made others feel cared for.
