Jack was born on April 9, 1949 and resided in Bound Brook before moving to Union. He graduated from Union High School and subsequently served in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1972. Jack spent most of his time in the Navy working as a Holdback Operator on the flight deck of the USS Independence (CV-62) before being honorably discharged. Following his military service, Jack joined the Cranford Police Department, working as a Police Officer for 25 years.
Jack was immensely proud of his nearly three decades of service to the military and the community. In retirement, Jack spent many enjoyable years sharing his love of music and trains with his friends. He enjoyed any type of music with good harmonies and was particularly fond of the Oldies. Jack truly valued the friendships he made through his love of trains and was a member of the Jersey Central Railroad Historical Society and the Union Model Railroad Club, among several other organizations.
