Beloved Husband and Father

Joseph Francis Deock, 73, of Lanoka Harbor New Jersey passed away peacefully at home on September 26th 2019. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church,971 Suburban Road Union New Jersey 07083 on Friday, October 4th at 10.30 am. Interment will follow at St Gertrude’s Cemetery in Colonia, New Jersey. The family will receive their friends at the McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Avenue, Union, New Jersey 07083 on Thursday, October 3rd from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. Joseph was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey on July 20th 1946 to the late Andrew Adam Deock and Helen (Atrashewski) Deock. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Elizabeth. Joseph enlisted in the United States Navy on October 15th 1964, served in Vietnam aboard the USS Providence CLG-6 as a communications yeoman, petty officer 3rd class for the commander of the seventh fleet, with honorable discharge on October 4th 1968. Joe received the following commendations during his tour: Vietnam Service Metal (with one bronze star), Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Metal and Nation Defense Service Metal. He was employed at Anheuser-Busch Inc. for 35 years in various positions, including tour guide, clerk, shop steward, and union delegate for Teamsters Local Union 102. Most importantly, this is where he met the love his life, Sally Ann Striker. They married and has three children together spending the rest of their lives in love. He happily retired in 2001. Joe spent his life in the Deock bar, Joe’s Tavern in Newark, dedicating a great deal in support of his mother and father. He adored his time on the water, fishing, crabbing and boating. Joe loved TV and family show nights watching Svengoolie, Westerns, Maury Povich and game shows. Joe was always laughing, busting balls and drinking beer while doing everything he enjoyed. As a youth, he learned a lot about life, love and friendship while a member of Elizabeth social club, The North End Dukes. Over the years, Joe could spend hours at the American Legion Post 232 in Barnegat New Jersey with his friends and family. Some of the best times of his life were spent with his cousins at so many events and especially at Longwood Lake. His pride and joy was winning awards and races with his 1970 Pontiac GTO convertible. He is survived by his devoted son, Andrew Adam Deock, his loving daughters, Dawn Marie Deock and Kristyna Lynn Deock, as well as countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and Kit the Cat. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Legion Post 232, 499 North Main Street Barnegat New Jersey 08005.

To Our Beloved Cousin Joe, Our Band of 13 Atrashewski Cousins are Heartbroken and in Shock over the passing of our precious Joey Deock who now joins his sister Andrea and cousin Linda in Gods Heaven. We are now 10 which makes us so sad. One thing that could be said about our Band of Cousins is that our Love for one another is undeniable and unbreakable. Andrea, Linda and Joe you will always be in our hearts. May you sing with the Lord and dance with the Angels. Love you always and forever. Joyce
