

Joseph C. Fernicola, 88, of Union, N.J., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2014. A service will held at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union, N.J., on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Graceland Memorial Park in Kenilworth, N.J. The family will receive their friends on Friday, May 16, 2014, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Joseph was employed by PSE&G in Irvington, N.J., before his retirement. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during World War II, receiving the Victory Medal, Asiatic Medal, and Philippine Liberation Ribbon. He was a member of the Cedar Grove VFW Post No. 6255 and the Union Elks Lodge No. 1583. He was the beloved husband of the late Louise Fernicola; devoted father of Carolyn Fernicola and her life partner, Paul Callan, and David Fernicola and his life partner, Tom Wilson; dear brother of Rose Tauriello, and devoted son of the late Carmen and Anna Fernicola. Joseph is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association 1 Union Street, No. 301, Robbinsville, N.J. 08691.
