Joseph S. Forys

Joseph S. Forys, age 81, of Union, NJ, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday January 15, 2023. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. James the Apostle Church 45 South Springfield Avenue Springfield, NJ on Saturday January 28, 2023 at 10 AM. Joe was raised in Philadelphia PA and retreated to Wildwood, NJ for summers where he met his wife Wanda of 56 years. His affinity for boats and the ocean prompted him to serve in the Coast Guard in Cape May, NJ. His drive for adventures and exploration lead him to be an avid outdoorsman, fisherman, cyclist, camper, road tripper, traveler and cruiser. Joe was a master builder and the inclination to construct with his hands lead him to be a skilled craftsman, "Senior" carpenter and eventual puzzle assemblyman. As he wished, Joe's last moments were shared among his loved ones in the comfort of his home. He is survived by his loving wife and perpetual caretaker Wanda, their four children Kara, Joe, John and Kristin and their spouses Rich, April, Karen and Jon. He is the beloved Pop Pop of William, Kylie, Bryce, Aiden, Eila and Nathan. He will be remembered for his quiet contemplative nature, resourceful and ingenious repair tactics and goodie stash. Joe was a grounded man who served as the strong solid foundation for his family. Joe, Husband, Dad, and Pop Pop will be forever loved. Joe was a grateful recipient of a kidney transplant 24 years ago, therefore, in lieu of flowers donations can be made in his honor to The Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center designated for kidney transplant division.
