Joseph Anthony Ruggiero Sr.

He was born on January 1, 1943, in Cantalupo in Sabina, Italy to the late Carmine and Italia (nee Laurella) Ruggiero. He was raised on Parker Street in Newark, and relished hang-outs with his buddies just as much as a stroll around Branchbrook Park to enjoy the cherry blossoms.

Joseph will be loved and remembered by his family, former co-workers, and friends. He worked for many years as a service writer and advisor in the automotive field. He enjoyed classic foreign and domestic cars, model trains, and other collectibles. visits to the Jersey Shore, especially Long Branch, and Wildwood, and was especially cheerful around the holiday season, often joking that he wished Christmas music could be played all year long. In his later years, he and his wife could be found enjoying Atlantic City, taking in the atmosphere, a good show, and a delicious meal; these simple times filled him with joy.

Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia, two loving sons, Joseph, Jr., and David; grandchildren Michael, Anthony, and Audrey, as well as a brother, Ernest Testa, sister-in-law Alivia, nephew Michael, and niece Stefani.

Services are private under the direction of the McCracken Funeral Home.
