Larry J Zimmermann

Larry was a gentle and easygoing man who found joy in the everyday moments of life. He enjoyed looking through magazines and spending time in the gym at Hunterdon Developmental Center, where he especially loved playing basketball. Larry had a true love for sports and proudly earned several medals in the Special Olympics. He thrived on being outdoors with his family, whether it was playing catch or kickball, or enjoying his favorite treats of vanilla pudding and custard ice cream. During home visits with family and the center's annual family picnic, he loved to weave and bop to classic rock tunes from the 60s-80s.

Larry also had a great appreciation for good food. He loved any and all food but had a particular fondness for lasagna and Italian food. Thanksgiving meals were especially meaningful to him and always among his favorites. There was little better than enjoying a crisp Coca-Cola alongside some pudding or ice cream.

Above all else, Larry cherished his family. His presence, his simple joys, and the happiness he found in spending time with those he loved will remain treasured memories for all who knew him.

Larry was predeceased by his beloved parents, Walter E. Zimmermann and Mary Zimmermann.

He is survived by his sisters, Linda Zimmermann and her life partner Joseph, and Judy Fiore; his brother, Gary Zimmermann; his nieces, Rachel and Melanie; his nephews, Matthew and Robert; and his great-niece, Marcella. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A funeral service for Larry will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 11:15 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery & Arboretum, 1100 E. Broad St., Westfield, NJ 07090.

Larry may have lived a simple life, but the love he shared with his family and the memories he leaves behind are anything but simple. He will be remembered with love, missed dearly, and forever remain a cherished part of his family.
