Leonard "Lenny" Schneider, age 58, of Union Township passed away unexpectedly early Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at his home.

Born in Newark, Lenny grew up in Plainfield, attended Plainfield High School, and in the following years was self employed and known as "The Gutter Man". He was a hard working man and rarely took a sick day. For the past nine years, he worked for the Township of Union for the Department of Public Works. He was a die hard Giants and Mets fan, and everyone that knows him knew of his passion for Bud Lite. He could often be found in the backyard blasting 80's music while scrapping metal, or in his self-made man cave watching the news or sports. He was always keeping himself busy with his "home projects".

Lenny was a loyal and devoted friend to many and would drop everything to help when asked. He was loved by so many and will be truly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded by his father, William G. Schneider and mother, Darel A. Feeko.

Lenny is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Kathleen Schneider and his sisters Gloria and Jimmy Capone, Deborah Wamba, and Janice Schneider. Lenny was a wonderful father to Tiffany and Justin Tschinkel, Liam Schneider and William Schneider and step-father to Jennifer and Mark Brubaker and Christopher and Jennifer Kaminski. He was a proud "Pop-Pop" to Landon and Scarlett Tschinkel and Logan Kaminski.

A visitation for Leonard will be held Friday, January 31, 2020 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083. A funeral service will occur Saturday, February 1, 2020 from 9:30 AM at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, 971 Suburban Road, Union, NJ 07083. To all of Lenny's family..you know when you are young just never think about the people that come into your life as ever leaving. Just take it for granted that they will be here forever. I became friends with a great person, his sister Janice. Through Janice I met Lenny. Omg instantly liked him. Great personality made you laugh made you feel welcome. Back in 2009 his sister Janice and I went to his St. Patrick's party at his and Kathleen's home. What a great time. They both made us feel so welcome. My heart goes out to Lenny's family..,I wish I could take your pain away. What a great guy..He touched my heart as many others and will forever be remembered. Lenny you are so loved..thank you for the great memories..

Lenny, What a awesome down to earth person. Friendly and definitely outspoken. He was passionate about his NY Giants and his politics. Loved his Bud Lite and always made me and my sons always welcome in his home. You will missed. Leslie

Lenny was a great guy! He was a hard and dedicated employee at public works. Lenny excelled at all he did and took pride in his craft. He will be greatly missed and hard to replace. He was a caring man and talked about his family all the time. Rest In Peace. You will always be remembered.

Lenny was a truly kind man who loved his family above all else. He was a big sports enthusiast with a passion for both the NY Giants & NY Mets. Lenny & I would often engage in sports debates and despite our differences regarding some teams, our talks were always engaging and never mean spirited. I will truly miss seeing him around and St. Patty's Day in Union will never quite be the same. Godspeed Lenny Love Tony Vegas
