Luc Bessière François was born and raised in Marigot, Haïti, October 18, 1920 to Zora Midi and Meçène François and was the brother to three sisters. After completing his studies in Jacmel he went on to work for Teleco, the only telephone company in Haïti at the time, which allowed him to travel throughout the island. During his travels he was assigned to the small town of Hinche where he met the love of his life, Polonne Fontus. They were later married in Port-au-Prince where they made their home and began their family. They had two lovely daughters, Chantale and Pascaline, whom they raised in faith, love and discipline.
In 1979 Luc joined Polonne and their daughters, who had migrated to the United States the prior year. Luc worked tirelessly to provide for his family to ensure that his girls pursued their education. After God, education was most important thing to him.
He proudly walked both his daughters down the aisle, and later retired to Florida. He played an integral role in helping raise his grandchildren Clarissa and Gregory and later his great grandchildren Nelissa and Nathaniel.
To all of us who call Luc, either Papa, Grandpa, Mon Oncle or Parrain he made a lasting impression. He was known for his integrity, his honesty and his discipline. He had foresight, and he was always right.
On July 9, 2018, he left us to be a home with the Lord. He left behind his daughters Chantale, Pascale and her spouse Joseph, his grandchildren Clarissa and Gregory, his great grandchildren Nelissa and Nathaniel, his sister Marie-Thérèse, and his nieces and nephews.
He will be missed by the François, Dorleus, Sainvilien, Telemaque, Philanthrope, Manigat, Robillard, Fontus, Colas, and Delorme Families.
