

Mable Virgina Yancey entered into Eternal Rest on September 8, 2021. Mable was born on September 25, 1945 to the late Spencer and Ruth Whiting of Dogue, Virginia. She graduated from Ralph Bunche High School in June, 1964. She was baptized at early age and joined the Salem Baptist Church in Virginia. Later she joined Jehovah Jireh Praise and Worship Church in Newark, NJ
Mable relocated to New Jersey where she continued her education at the Newark Training Skills Center receiving a certificate of completion. She also took courses at Essex County College.
Mable worked at a variety of jobs, the Internal Revenue Service; 16 years in Banking; Montclair State University in the Athletic Department and the Urban League, in the Accounting Department before retiring in the early 2000. Mable always said her varied work experiences gave her the opportunity to meet with many people from different walks of life. She took a lot of pride in her work and in helping people whenever and however she could. Mable loved reading; she enjoyed the challenges of decorating, growing her many plants and gardening.
Mable was a loving mother and grandmother to her daughter Wynter and grandson Christian. She often talked to them about her personal relationship with God. She read her Bible every day and she wanted Wynter and Christian to know that God is their salvation and they can depend on him to keep all his promises.
Mable was predeceased by her parents Spencer and Ruth Whiting, 2 brothers Spencer Whiting, Jr. and Willie George Whiting, 7 sisters Estelle Bumbry, Irene Jefferson, Helen Johnson, Catherine McDowney, Gladys Pryor, Winnie B. Pryor, Dorothy Washington and Mary Randolph.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted daughter, Wynter Yancey and grandson, Christian Britt from New Jersey, special niece, Annie Dickinson (Paul) of New Jersey and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.
