

Mafalda Constance Nastasi, known as ‘Tano', passed away peacefully on October 14, 2019. She was 100 years old. Tano was born in Elizabeth, NJ on January 16, 1919. She attended Batten High school and graduated from Dental assistant school in 1938. In 1943, she married Vincent J. Nastasi Jr. of Elizabeth. She worked as a dental assistant until the birth of her first child. They resided in Elizabeth until moving to Union in 1949. Tano dedicated her life to her family, her three sons, her church and her home. A very independent woman she managed to do many things well. She made most of her own clothes, was an excellent cook and avid gardener. She was an active member of Holy Spirit RC Church since its inception, where she participated in many church programs. She was also a member of the Rosary Society and the Catholic daughters.
Tano was predeceased by her parents Rose and Frank Cala, her husband Vincent, her eldest son Vincent F. Nastasi III, her sisters Ida Kares and Katherine Vella, and her twin brother Armand G. Cala of Florence, Italy.
Tano is survived by her son Richard Nastasi and his wife Nancy of Raleigh, NC and her son William Nastasi and his wife Monica of Basking Ridge, NJ. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren: Donna Randall of Kenilworth, NJ, Lisa Grecco and husband Angelo of Scotch Plains, NJ, Thomas Nastasi of Toms River, NJ, Tara Colombo and husband Lawrence of Bridgewater, NJ, Justin Nastasi and his wife Kerri of Middlesex, NJ, Austin Nastasi of Raleigh, NC, and Olivia Nastasi of Charlotte, NC. Tano is also survived by 3 great grand children, Michael Vincent Nastasi, and twins Francesca and Giovanna Colombo.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Falls River Court Assisted Living and Memory Care facility in Raleigh, NC for the excellent care Tano received for the last 5 years.
A visitation for Tano will be held Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083. The funeral service will occur Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, 971 Suburban Road, Union, NJ 07083. A committal service will occur Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Hollywood Memorial Park Cemetery, 1500 Stuyvesant Avenue, Union, NJ 07083.
