

Manuel E. Sares, 71, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2012 after a courageous 10 year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He emigrated to Manhattan, NY from Machala, Ecuador in 1966. He lived in Staten Island for 15 years before settling in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 18th from 4-8 p.m. at the McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union, N.J. A service will be offered at Holy Spirit Church, Union on Wednesday, September 19th at 9:30 a.m. A private cremation will follow.
Manuel retired from the Bank of New York in 2005 after 30 years of service. Before his illness, Manuel was involved with and volunteered at Our Lady of Good Council in Staten Island. He was an avid runner and great lover of music, particularly Afro-Cuban jazz and salsa. He was a family man and vacationed in Ecuador every year to see his family and friends. He will be remembered for his integrity, passion for music, great sense of humor and generosity. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Manuel is survived by his former wife and friend Carmen Sares. He is also survived by his loving children Edward Fabrizio Sares and his wife Eileen, and Diana Sares Nunes and her husband Daniel. He also leaves behind his adoring grandchildren Isabelle, Lourdes, Fabrizio, and Joaquin, and loving siblings Robert Sares, Vilma Gil, Patricia Sares, Nancy Lemus, Lola Cordova and LindaTrujillo .
