Maria Ramirez

She was born on April 27, 1946 in Santurce, Puerto Rico, to her loving parents Gregorio and Emerita Ramirez (nee Cruz). Early in her childhood, Maria began to develop her passion for cooking as she prepared meals for her family at the age of 7. At the age of 18, Maria leveraged her cooking skills to come to the US as a personal cook for a large family. At the age of 27, she had her daughter Priscella and worked very hard to raise her as a single mother. Two years later, Maria met her husband and started their family in Newark, NJ. Their family grew five years later with the arrival of her son, Erick. The family moved to Elizabeth, NJ where Maria was a homemaker and raised her children. In her later years, Maria dedicated her time to help raise her granddaughters.

Maria enjoyed cooking, dancing, attending her granddaughters' dance recitals and the occasional word search puzzle.

She is survived by two sisters, Emerita Martinez and Luz Aponte, her cherished children, Priscella Cervantes and Erick Roche, and her beloved granddaughters, Allyson and Ashley Almeida.

A visitation for Maria will be held Friday, July 25, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083.
