Marina L. Alleyne

She was born Marina Lucylle McLaughlin in Colon, Panama on June 18, 1939, to Carmen Forbes and Andre Elu McLaughlin. She was 3rd of 8 siblings. She arrived in the United States in 1960.

Marina was sent to live with a cousin in Brooklyn, NY , where she found employment in a Brooklyn factory and soon after met her loving husband Isaac D. Alleyne of 55 years. They married in September of

1962. They resided in Brooklyn, where they raised 4 children until 1991, when they moved to Carteret, NJ and later moving to Hillside, NJ in 2006. Marina quit her job in the factory after having her first child in

1963 to become a homemaker.

She eventually went back to work in her husband’s electronic stores that he named after her, Marina Electronics and Allied Electronics.

Marina became a citizen of the U.S. in the early 70’s and was able to go back to Panama to see her family for the last time in 1987. In November 2003 Marina traveled to meet her family in Cayman Island for the first time and returned to visit with her husband and sister Veronica in 2005.

Marina was a big basketball fan. Her favorite players were her grandson Kenneth whose games she live-streamed every season and Steph Curry of the Warriors. She would stay up late just to cheer her Warriors on.

Marina also loved cooking for her family, especially her famous arroz con pollo. She taught her children that if someone is hungry you feed them. Marina was the neighborhood mom in her beloved Brooklyn.

She walked all the young neighborhood kids to school whose parents had to work.

Beloved wife of 55 years to Isaac D. Alleyne. Loving mother of Brendalee Ashby and husband Shawn Ashby(deceased), Isaac Alleyne, Jr., Brigitte Jones and husband Kevin Jones, Natalie

Roseborough and husband Glen Roseborough. Adoring grandma of Alyssa, Jeremy and Princess Ashby, Brittany Lopez and Amber Alleyne, Kevin Jr., Andre, Kenneth and Keyana Jones, Ayana, Shana, and Gina Roseborough. Dear great-grandma of Aaliyah Ivory Lopez and Kaylah Alleyne. Loving sister of Veronica Lucia Cleveland, Joseph Edward McLaughlin, Andre Elu McLaughlin (deceased), Alaida Lucy Anna Lopez and Roberto Antonio McLaughlin, John McLaughlin, Albert McLaughlin and Alice McLaughlin.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Marina's metory to St. Jude's children's research hospital,501 St. Jude Place • Memphis, TN 381

Visitation will take place on Monday, April 1,2024 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at McCracken Funeral Home. 1500 Morris Ave. Union NJ 07083.

A prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm.
