Marjorie was born in Sunderland, England in 1936. It was in her home country that Marjorie would meet the love of her life, the late Guy Withell. Guy’s job brought Marjorie, their first daughter, Amanda and him to Africa. During their time in Nigeria and Ghana, Marjorie gave birth to her second daughter, Debbie. On November 5th, 1976 Marjorie and the Withell family settled in Cranford, NJ, where she would spend the next 41 years of her life. It was also in Cranford that Marjorie worked as a secretary at Brookside Elementary School for 23 years.
When Marjorie had time for the finer things in life, she could most often be found with her family, whether she was cruising the islands with Guy, or cheering on her grandchildren from the sidelines at soccer games and cheerleading events. Her grandchildren will especially forever be held in a special place in Marjorie’s heart. When Marjorie had some quiet time she loved reading. If there was one author she appreciated more than others it would be the great Mary Higgins Clark. Some people have an uncanny ability to have an everlasting touch on those they meet, and it is safe to say that if you asked anyone about Marjorie Withell, they would echo this same sentiment about her. Her memory will surely be carried on by those she shared her love with.
Marjorie was predeceased by her loving husband Guy, and her father Walter Glendenning.
She leaves behind her mother Edith Glendenning two daughters and sons in law Amanda and Curt Bashford, Debbie and Bill Gotto, her grandson and his fiancé Scott Bashford and Karly Kaplan, 2 granddaughters Nicole Bashford and Meaghan Gotto, a brother and sister in law Raymond and Joan Glendenning, as well as her beloved nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to gather at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083, on Monday July 16 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.
