Patricia Wu

Patricia Wu, (née Cortes) of Tinton Falls, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026, at the age of 93. Pat was born on March 17,1933, and raised by her parents, Lyn (Wong) and Victor Cortes, in Brooklyn, New York.

On November 19, 1955, she married the love of her life, James W. Wu, and moved to Clifton, NJ in 1959. Together, they built a home filled with love and devotion for over 70 years.

Strong, compassionate, and determined, Pat set a wonderful example for her daughters. She was elected to the first parish council of Saint Philip - The Apostle Parish in Clifton NJ and was one of the founding volunteers for Hospice in Passaic County. Always emphasizing the value of education, she co-founded a reading program for underserved children. While raising her own children, she returned to school to earn a degree and ultimately worked alongside periodontists and graduate students at Farleigh Dickinson University’s Dental School.

In retirement, she moved to Sarasota, Florida. Pat gave up tennis to take up her husband’s favorite pastime, golf. Much to her husband’s envy, she hit a hole-in-one at The Groves golf course of The Meadows Country Club! She remained active in the community as a Eucharistic minister, a Stillpoint Mission volunteer, and a good friend to many.

Pat is predeceased by her brother, Edward. She is survived by her sister, Christine Cortes; her husband, James Wu; four daughters: Victoria (Kevin McNamee) Wu, Janice K. Wu, Corey (Timothy Jung) Wu-Jung, and Elena (Martin Accetta) Wu; and four grandchildren, Elena (Tomasz Konarzewski) Konarzewski Wu, Shannan (Rizky Hidayat) McNamee, Bryan Jung, and Stephanie (Alex Chapman) Jung.

"A wake celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, August 29th, at 10 a.m. at The Parish Community of Saint Helen, 1600 Rahway Ave, Westfield, NJ, followed by Mass at 11:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Seabrook Senior Living Scholarship Fund to benefit the wonderful young staff who brought Pat joy by serving her many lunches and dinners or to the Seabrook Senior Living Resident Care Fund.
