Patrick Hanrahan, 62, of Clark NJ, passed away in his home on December 17, 2018.

He was a sergeant of the FOP, Newark and was known to his colleagues as ‘a gentleman and a great boss.’ Probably because he didn’t make them work! He loved traveling to visit his daughter in foreign countries and vacationing in St. Martin each year with his family and friends. His passions were sports, golfing and attempting to take up yoga, but we’ll leave it at that. He loved the beach life in the summer time, crabbing, bike riding and eating his seafood. His generous and kind nature will never be forgotten. Whenever he saw someone with less than him, he would give them whatever he could. He loved eating eggplant on Thanksgiving and pepper steak at Diane’s girls’ nights and telling the same jokes over and over again thinking they were just as funny as the first time he told them. He will be forever remembered for making people laugh and bringing so much life to all the places and people he encountered.

Patrick was born on August 16, 1956 in Newark NJ to Freda DellaPella and John Hanrahan. Surviving are Patrick’s two children, Jason and Marisa Hanrahan. Sister, Kathy Hanrahan, brothers Jack Hanrahan, Wayne Hanrahan & Michael Hanrahan. Nieces, Erin Hanrahan, Julie Hanrahan, Diane Hanrahan & Rory Fagan.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the McCracken Funeral Home on Friday December 21, 2018 from 4-8pm. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday December 22, 2018 at 10:15 am at the St. Michael's Church, Union, NJ followed by entombment at the Hollywood Memorial Park, Union, NJ.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking to make a donation to the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway Foundation. Please follow the link below

Pic was a character you will never forget. Never serious and always smiling. Worked for years as one of his supervisors on the NPD. Loved him but no Superior would dream of " booking him on the fly". Rest in peace. John Witsch, NPD retired Captain.

Oh Uncle Patty, I don't even know where to begin. What will we do on Xmas Eve without your antipasta and summer BBQs without the cooler full of clams??? You laughing, singing and sneezing will live on in my heart forever. There are no words that can express the way we will miss you and the hole left in this family. Until we meet again. I love you.
Love, one of your many honeydolls, Didi

To the entire Hanrahan Family:
Gerry and I extend our deepest condolences to you all during this difficult time. I grew up with "Pic" in Bradley Court and it's so sad to lose one of BC's family members. Jack, Wayne, Mike and Kathy will agree we were all one big family back then. You will be missed Pat. Rest In Peace my friend.

To the Hanrahan Family please accept my condolences on the loss of Pat. Pat And I worked together on and off at the West District . He was always a hard charging cop ready to do his job. Of course we had fun at times too. He certainly will be missed.
