

Richard L. Fisher, 86, passed away on May 12, 2026. Born on December 4, 1939, in Summit, New Jersey, Richard was raised in Union, New Jersey, where he attended both grade school and high school. He was a man of steady courage and quiet resolve, known for the devotion he showed to his work, his commitments, and the people who relied on him.
Richard lived in Galloway, New Jersey, and was also of Port Orange, Florida, and formerly of Union, New Jersey. For 25 over years, Richard worked as an electrical contractor where he owned and operated Fisher Electric in Union, building a reputation through diligence, reliability, and the kind of hard work that speaks for itself. He retired from business in 1994 and later served briefly as Community Development Director for the Township of Union in 1996 and 1997.
Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965. After returning to civilian life, he remained deeply committed to service and fellowship through longstanding memberships, including American Legion Post #35 and Loyalty Lodge # 33 F&AM, both in Union. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Northern NJ and the Shriners. Richard also belonged to and served as past president of the Young Republicans organization in Union as well as the Rotary Club of Union, maintaining his membership even after moving to Florida in 2004—an enduring reflection of his loyalty and sense of responsibility to community.
A private pilot, Richard earned his certificate at Linden Airport, where his plane was based until his move to Florida. He was a member of the Quiet Birdmen, Somerville Hanger, and more recently the Daytona Beach Hanger—pursuits that reflected both discipline and a willingness to meet life with calm bravery.
Richard is survived by his son, Robert of N.J.; his daughters, Catherine of Galloway Township, N.J., and Tina of Weymouth, Mass.; and his sister, Audrey of Kenilworth, N.J. Richard was pre-deceased by his son, John. Richard was also survived by 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083, US, on May 19, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
A Committal Service will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, 1500 Stuyvesant Ave., Union, NJ 07083, US, on May 19, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm.
