Born on April 21, 1945, Richard was the son of the late Alexander and Frances Rutledge. He lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to his family, service to his country, and a lifelong love of the outdoors.
Richard proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life that reflected his dedication and sense of duty.
At just 22 years old, following the passing of his father, Richard took over his share of the family business, F&M Machine Company, working alongside his partners, the Radick family. Through hard work, determination, and unwavering commitment, he helped lead the business for nearly six decades, carrying on the legacy his father had helped build. His dedication to his work was a testament to his character and the pride he took in providing for his family.
When he wasn't working, Richard found his greatest joy outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, happiest in the woods or on the water. Some of his family's most treasured memories are of the many fishing trips they shared together, where laughter, stories, and life lessons were just as plentiful as the fish. His love of the outdoors became a legacy he passed on to his children and grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn, whom he deeply missed. It brings comfort to know they are together once again after being apart.
He is survived by his loving children: Kim Correll and her husband, John; Richard Rutledge; Cheryl Zoeller and her husband, Ryan; and Krystal Rutledge. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Rebecca, Emma, Autumn, Dakota, Nathaniel, Sianna, and Elijah, each of whom brought him tremendous joy.
Richard will be remembered for his quiet strength, steadfast work ethic, unwavering love for his family, and the countless memories made on hunting and fishing adventures. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished, the business he faithfully led, and the many lives he touched.
