Born in 1943 to Stephen and Josephine (Liniewski) Toth, Stephen was raised in Hillside, New Jersey, alongside his brother, Robert Toth.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joyce Toth; his son, Stephen Toth, and daughter-in-law, Allison; and his three cherished grandchildren, Benjamin, Adam, and Douglas.
Stephen proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 25 years through both active duty and reserve service, attaining the rank of Machinist's Mate First Class. Following his military service, he joined the Union Township Fire Department, where he faithfully served his community for 28 years.
A gifted mechanic with an exceptional ability to repair anything with an engine, Stephen shared his knowledge as an instructor at Union County Vocational School, operated his own appliance repair business, and authored a monthly home appliance repair column for Popular Mechanics magazine.
Stephen enjoyed traveling the country in his RV, visiting national parks, taking cruises, and spending time outdoors. He was an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 68 in Union, where he served as a mentor, role model, and friend to many people over the years. His guidance, encouragement, and steady presence left a lasting impression on those whose lives he touched.
Above all, Stephen's greatest passion was automobiles. He loved attending car shows, drag racing his Buick Grand National, and spending time in the garage turning wrenches alongside his son and grandchildren. His wisdom, generosity, and mechanical expertise will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
