Born in Timisoara, Romania to Nicolae and Rodica Stoicovici. Her parents, Nicolae and Rodica, passed away in 2011, 15 years ago.
She is survived by brother Dragutin and his wife Elena, and their two daughters Vesna and Maia.
Tamara was very private with her life, so her passing came surprisingly fast.
Through her life she did a lot of what she liked. From childhood, spending summers at Bazias, attending “Dositej Obradovic” high school, then studying medicine. She was a member of “Mladost” Serbian cultural dance group.
Tamara was the first in our family to emigrate to the United States of America, running away from then communist dictatorship.
In 1989 communism collapsed in Romania, and Tamara returned to complete her medical degree and get her medical license.
In 2010 she was practicing medicine in Romania, when our father was diagnosed with cancer. She dropped everything and returned to New York to care for him until the end.
After his passing, her mother was also diagnosed with cancer and got her undivided attention and care, but she passed away the same year as her husband.
She continued working in medical field until retirement, at 62.
Tamara had many passions, first for Serbian folklore, then medicine. She would help anyone. She loved animals, especially cats. She loved plants and flowers, and she also loved gadgets, lots of gadgets.
Tamara did not have children of her own, but we shared ours with her.
She was always supportive and was always there when it was important. First by coming to America, she did change our lives enormously, from traveling together through Europe, to lots of family memories at the cabin in the woods, and the lake.
Tamara will forever be missed and remembered at the same time.
