William "Billy" Pecoraro

Billy Pecoraro passed away on August 4 after battling respiratory issues. He was 62 years old. Billy was born in Brooklyn, New York and spent his early childhood years with his immediate family raised in an Italian household in a neighborhood near his beloved grandparents, aunts, uncles and many cousins. He moved to Union, New Jersey in 1977 where he spent the majority of his life. After graduating from Union High School in 1983, Billy went on to work at the Union Shop Rite as a shopping cart collector where he proudly worked for over 30 years. His love for his work and co-workers was immense and a driving force in his life. Billy was an avid Yankee fan and would relish going to Yankee Stadium to see his favorite team. He also was a huge fan of WWE wrestling where he would host countless events for viewing parties.

Throughout his life, Billy developed relationships that made him extremely popular within the township. It began with his brothers’ friends and schoolmates, but quickly grew into those he interacted with on a regular basis, whether it be going to the local deli for a sandwich, running various errands and eventually through his work where he encountered countless patrons that all knew and loved him. Anyone who knew Billy knows his love of routines which he followed like clockwork. Pastrami sandwiches every Saturday for lunch, watching old sitcoms including The Honeymooners, Sanford & Son and All in the Family, eating Wise potato chips on weekends and of course the evening salami sandwiches each night. He had his own way which made him unique and special. He was an extremely social individual that would want to be part of every party or gathering; not to be the center of attention, but just merely to be around those he loved and cherished so much. He possessed the uncanny ability to remember dates for birthdays or anniversaries and would make personal phone calls to send warm wishes.

Family and friends were a big part of Billy’s life. His pure kindness and genuineness was unmatched and extremely admirable. He was adored by all relatives and brought joy to them all when he was around. He carried a special relationship with his grandmother Rosa, in which they would speak in Italian, who cared for and protected him while he grew up. He cherished the many titles that he carried including son, brother, uncle, cousin, godfather, godson, best man. He was also known as a man of God evidenced by his love for his church and religion from a young age. Billy was fortunate enough to enjoy traveling with his parents and other family members with some international destinations included. He would also enjoy going on bus trips around the area, especially visiting the shrine of his favorite saint, Padre Pio, in Barto, Pennsylvania.

Billy was the son of Angelo Pecoraro (deceased) and Anna Pecoraro. He was the loving brother of Chris Pecoraro and his wife Maria, Angelo Pecoraro Jr. and his wife Marisa, Robert Pecoraro and his wife Christine, Rose Borelli and her husband Bob. He also was a beloved uncle to Matthew, Carly and her daughter Selena, Nicholas, Natalie, Gabriella, Carissa, Cristian and Tomaso. He was predeceased by his older brother Leonardo Pecoraro.

Visitation will be held at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083, US, on August 9, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will take place at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, 971 Suburban Rd, Union, NJ 07083, US, on August 10, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Committal will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, 1500 Stuyvesant Ave., Union, NJ 07083, US, on August 10, 2026, at 12:00 pm
