Al overachieved at everything he tried. From flying F4 Phantoms over Vietnam to 4 decades as a State Farm agent, Al's prodigious confidence, thirst for excellence, and never failing sense of humor inspired everyone he touched.
Al was preceded in death by his brother Douglas and survived by his two sisters, Madeline and Cora. Al was the proud father of six children: Robert (and Becky) McLean, James (and Georgia) McLean, Deborah (and John) Barrett, Linda (and Drew) Dye, Dennis (and Kim) McLean, and Vicki (and Tom) Hightower. He has 17 grandchildren and growing numbers of great-grandchildren. Each and every one of them can sing about the whiskey spilled on the bar room floor and knows how to, "Say hello to" whomever Al aimed his devilish wit.
Al love his country, the Air Force, State Farm, and women - pretty much in that order. He leaves a trail of broken hearts. His first wife, Alene, is busily preparing corned beef and cabbage for him at that irish bar in the sky. his second wife Val is still alive and living in Washington last he heard. His third wife, Wrightwood legend Jan, is desperately trying to straighten out his books before he faces the Auditor in the Sky.
He is loved by many and will be missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent In Memory of Alvin McLean for the Wrightwood Veterans Memorial. Checks made out to VFW Post #9415 sent to C&J Smith, P.O. Box 3297, Wrightwood, CA 92397-3297.
