Anthony, affectionately known to most as Toby Capalbo, 86 years old, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning October 4th, 2016 surrounded by family In Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Toby was born to Michael and Mary Capalbo on April 8, 1930 in the rural town of Bradford RI. He was the younger of two other siblings Margie and Nate Capalbo. The family moved to California in 1943 to be near his brother Nate who had just enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in San Francisco.

When the war ended, Toby and his family moved and settled in Downey, California. There he married his high school sweetheart, La Verne Anne Call on June 13, 1952. Together they raised five sons. LaVerne preceded Toby in death on January 12, 1993. He is survived by their sons and wives, Steven Capalbo (Marla Capalbo), Christopher Capalbo (Angelique Dodaro Capalbo), Mark Capalbo (Robin Capalbo), Mitchell Capalbo (Carla Capalbo) and Jeremy Capalbo (Virginia (Vicky) Capalbo). He is also survived by six grandchildren, Melissa Kinney, Steven Capalbo, Vincent Capalbo, Daphne Capalbo, Guilia Capalbo and Maryann Capalbo. He was also blessed to have three great-grandchildren, Olivia Kinney, Natalie Kinney and Sophia Capalbo. Toby then met his second wife of twenty-one years, Lemerle Bonnie Lou Copeland. They were married on July 15, 1995. Toby is survived by his wife, Lemerle, who was with Toby when he died. He is also survived by her sons and wives, Anthony Copeland (Renee Copeland), Donald Copeland (Tamara Copeland). They have four grandchildren, Richie, Trevor, Garrett and Joshua. Anthony also has two step-children, Michelle and Mandy. They were also blessed to have five great-grandchildren, Christopher, Bentley, Mark, Stacy and Maddi.

Toby was a professional musician and performed on radio, stage and studio since the age of 4. His passion for music inspired him to open a music store and studio in 1960. La Habra Music Center is one of the oldest family owned music stores in Southern California and is still in operation by family members. Toby’s other passions included gardening, travel, food, sports, card games and he could be heard up to his last days professing his views on the politics of the day.

Toby lived in the Upland area for over 53 years. He was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and a faithful member of the Catholic Church. He was always the “life of the party” and could be counted on to raise the spirits of all he came in contact with. As the head of a traditional Italian family, (all members of the family were considered Italian) he made himself available for guidance, counseling and teaching. He touched many lives through his business, family, friends and church. Toby will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Alzheimer's Inland Caregiver Center 1430 East Cooley Drive Suite 124 Colton, CA 92324

My condolences to the Capalbo family. He treated me like family since the first day I met him. I would look forward to talking to him and always came away knowing more than before. He always brought me goodies that his wife made for the trade shows. He will be missed!!

My condolences to the Capalbo family. I knew Nate Capalbo and Jean-Pierre Hasson at Downey Music since 1964. Though I never met Toby, I only heard great things about him and La Habra Music. I still keep in touch with Mike Capalbo in Downey (Nate's son).

Uncle Toby,
Thanks for the always friendly talks. Your legacy for me will always be that as a great Father and your consistent concern for family. The talk you gave me about my Dad when you visited him in the hospital shortly before he died. Arriving a bit late to a reunion a few years ago I see you among several young nephews, guitar in hand, sharing your skills/passion. Of course the way you would kid with your sister, my Mom.

You will always be remembered because of the way you lived.
