Our beloved mother, grandma, and great grandmother, Barbara Miller, passed away on August 17, 2026, peacefully in her sleep at Atria del Rey, in Rancho Cucamonga. Barbara was born on January 17, 1935 in Santa Monica California.
Barbara lived a full and joyful 91 years. During her childhood in Santa Monica, she became a small part of the war effort by putting together electric wire plugs with her small hands. She met her husband, Crane Miller, of 62 years when she was 16. They eloped and had 2 children a few years after their marriage.
Raising children and always working full time kept her very active. Both she and her husband worked at Cal Poly Pomona. Crane Miller was a geography professor and Barbara was an administrative assistant from the College of Business, as well as a secretary for the Development Office. They raised their children in La Habra Heights.
In retirement, they moved to Upland for a few years and in 2006 moved to Sequim, Washington. Our family has fond memories of spending time with them in the Pacific Northwest as well as Victoria, Canada, where extended family members live.
Grandchildren and great-grandchildren were always a big part of the joy and love Barbara shared.
Her last few years were spent at Atria Del Rey where she thrived with a new community to share her life with. Family and friends have remained close through her journey. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and positive attitude to carry on with a smile!
A Memorial Service will take place on Monday, October 5, 2026 at 3:00 PM, at Stone Funeral Home - 355 E 9th Street, Upland, CA 91786
