Born in Lisbon, Ohio, Cathy devoted her life to teaching, raising her children, and being a loving grandmother to her three grandsons.
Cathy was a proud alumna of Cornell University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in home economics in 1957. After graduation, she moved to California to work for the University of California Agricultural Extension Service and 4-H.
Cathy met her beloved husband, Michele “Mike” Gallo, at a social hosted by the Italian Catholic Federation. They married in 1959 and settled in Upland, where they made their home for the rest of their lives. In the 1960s, they adopted two children, Mick and Lisa. Cathy’s children and grandchildren were the lights of her life.
Cathy was a gifted cook, baker, and candy maker. Her family and friends treasured the delicious treats she made with love, especially the chocolate chip cookies that were favorites of her grandsons. She also loved to sew and crochet. She mended what was torn, brightened what was drab, and stitched a little joy into every day.
Cathy was preceded in death by her husband, Mike; her son, Mick; and her brother, Vince.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Gallo; her grandsons, John “Jack” Hague, Evan Hague, and Cameron Gallo; and her brother-in-law, Mario Gallo.
Cathy will be deeply missed. Her family will forever cherish her memory and the love, generosity, and joy she brought into their lives.
