Catherine Marie Roche
April 17, 1927 – March 4, 2020
Catherine Marie Roche April 17, 1927 – March 4, 2020 Catherine passed away at her home just about six weeks short of her 93rd birthday. She lived a life rich in love, laughter, and, as we have been discovering, certainly one of the most comprehensive collections of purses, combs, tissues, breath mints, shoe horns, rosaries, and devotional pamphlets in the Inland Empire. Foremost among these were, of course, love and laughter, which are the two qualities those of us who love her and laughed with her will carry with us. She is etched indelibly in our hearts. The other stuff, however, is available, free of charge, in case you find yourself in need of them. The tissues are unused, but the rosaries show signs of wear—a testament to her faith. It’s hard to tell with the shoe horns, but she often wore shoes, so we’re thinking they are used. Besides her dedication to her family, Mom loved to cook, and in true Italian style, could whip up a tasty dish using just about anything available, and taking seconds was expected. When she wasn’t cooking, she loved watching cooking shows, always looking for that perfect recipe. But in her family, she had stumbled on that perfect recipe and knew it. She loved us all tremendously, like her sons, David and Edward, her daughter, Laurie (Clarke), her grandchildren, Julie (Alejandro) and Andrew (Kelly), and Danielle. But she was also proud of her great grandchildren, Mason, Luna, and Ryan. Beyond that, she had multiple cousins, her Aunt Marie, and myriad other folk whom she loved and held dear. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed. This woman knew how to love. To send Mom off to meet her many friends and loved ones who forged their way to the Pearly Gates before her, a simple service with Rosary will be held at Stone Funeral Home in Upland, California on March 13th, 2020. She wanted it simple, and so it is. Yes, it’s on Friday the 13th, and Mom is likely laughing at that. We are better for knowing her, and there is no greater measure of a life’s worth.
