age of 80. He was born in Mexico and as a young boy moved to
the United States. He joined the Army after graduating from
Chaffey High School in Ontario. After completing his service in
the Army, where he excelled as a sharpshooter, he met and fell
in love with Teresa Chavez. They were married for 53 wonderful
years.
He had many jobs over his lifetime, beginning as a paperboy
for the Daily Bulletin, where he was honored as Paperboy of the
Year. He sometimes worked as many as three jobs at a time to
support his family. He ultimately worked at Tamco Steel, where
he retired after 35 years.
David never stayed idle, even up to the very end. He
enjoyed many hobbies during his life, which include fishing,
golfing, playing pool and racquetball, welding, ironworking,
woodworking, and creating havoc on the computer. He also loved
music and enjoyed playing his guitar. He was a builder and
created the most beautiful projects, which we will always keep
in remembrance of his craftsmanship and talent.
Even though David could sometimes be strong and stern, he
was a loving and caring husband, father, brother, friend, and a
father figure to many more than just his own children. Not only
a hard worker and a good provider, but David also had a humorous
and playful nature and enjoyed being with his family and
friends. Despite his health ailments towards the end of his
life, he maintained his sense of humor, even to his last days on
earth.
David is survived by his three children, Patty, Sandy, and
Cindy; five grandchildren, Rachel, Cecilia, Yvonne, David, and
Sabrina; three great-grandchildren, Maximus, Iden, and soon to
come, Bodaven; as well as those he welcomed into his family,
Fernando, David, Diane, Saul, Andres, Ashlyn, Alex, Sandra,
Iris, and Ivy; and his siblings, Licha, Alfonso, and George.
His social and friendly nature allowed him to make friends
everywhere he went, and he kept many close friendships,
including with lifelong friends David, Irene, and Al.
